Good but chemical usage is higher
The tank works as advertised and is very convenient. My only gripe is that it uses slightly more chemistry than my old stainless steel tank, especially for 35mm rolls. If you are mixing expensive boutique developers, keep that in mind. Otherwise, it's a solid piece of kit.

Game changer for apartment developers
I live in a small studio with no bathroom window, so traditional tanks were impossible to use without a dark bag. This kit is absolutely brilliant. Loading the film in broad daylight took me two tries to get smooth, but now it's second nature. The build quality feels sturdy and light-tight.

No more light leaks!
I used to struggle with light leaks using cheap changing bags. The Lab-Box solved this entirely. The locking mechanism is secure, and the funnel makes pouring chemicals in and out very mess-free. It has renewed my love for developing my own film at home.

Great concept, slight learning curve
The idea of not needing a dark bag is fantastic. However, getting the 120 film onto the reel inside the box requires some practice. Once I got the hang of the tension, it worked perfectly. My negatives came out clean and evenly developed. Just watch the tutorial video first.

Solid construction, easy cleaning
The plastic is high quality and doesn't retain odors like some rubber tanks. Cleaning is a breeze since you can open it up completely after the process. I deducted one star because the thermometer provided is a bit basic, but overall, it's an excellent value for the price.

Perfect for travel photography
I take this on photo trips because it eliminates the need to carry a bulky changing bag. It fits easily in my camera backpack. The agitation system works well, though I prefer gentle inversions over the knob rotation for my specific developer chemistry. Highly recommended for analog enthusiasts.
Q: What is the minimum amount of developer needed for a single 35mm roll?
A: For a single 135 (35mm) roll, the minimum working solution volume is approximately 300ml to ensure the film is fully submerged and agitated correctly. For 120 film, you will need about 500ml.
Q: Does the box come with a warranty if the light seal fails?
A: Yes, all Lab-Box kits come with a 1-year manufacturer warranty covering defects in materials and workmanship, including light seal integrity. Please contact our support team with your order number if you experience any issues.
Q: Can I use this tank for developing color negative film (C-41 process)?
A: Yes, the Lab-Box is fully compatible with C-41 color negative processes as long as you can maintain the required temperature range of roughly 38°C (100°F) during development. The tank itself is chemically resistant to standard developers.
Q: Is it possible to load half-used rolls of film into this tank?
A: No, similar to traditional tanks, you must load the film in complete darkness or within the light-tight environment of the box. Since the box requires you to thread the film leader manually, you cannot open a cassette mid-roll without exposing the film to light.
Q: Do I need to buy separate reels for 135 and 120 film?
A: No, the kit comes with adjustable reels that can be configured for both 135 (35mm) and 120 medium format film. You simply adjust the spiral spacing before loading the film inside the box.
