Excellent Linux compatibility

Good value for the features
Setup was straightforward using the provided tools. It does exactly what it says regarding soft hook and signal detection. Wish the casing felt a bit more premium, but functionally it's solid.

Great hardware, documentation could be better
The soft hook control is very responsive and the audio quality is clear. I deducted one star because the API examples in the SDK are a bit sparse, but support helped me out.

Reliable for 24/7 recording
We have deployed ten of these units across our office. They run stable for weeks without needing a reset. The software hook feature saves us from buying expensive physical switches.
Q: Can the soft hook feature disconnect an incoming call automatically?
A: Yes, the software-controlled hook allows you to answer and hang up calls programmatically. This is ideal for automated attendant systems or click-to-dial applications.
Q: What programming languages are supported in the Secondary Development Kit?
A: The SDK includes libraries and sample code for C++, C#, and Python. We also provide DLL files that can be called from most other languages supporting external library imports.
Q: Is there a limit to how many hours of audio can be recorded?
A: The device itself streams audio to your computer in real-time; it does not have internal storage. The recording duration is limited only by your computer's hard drive capacity and file system limits.
Q: Does this device work with VoIP lines or only analog PSTN?
A: The Zipei IP1-F is designed specifically for analog PSTN lines. It connects between the wall jack and your analog telephone. It is not compatible with direct digital VoIP connections without an ATA adapter.
Q: How does the polarity reversal detection help with call logging?
A: Polarity reversal is a signal sent by many telephone exchanges when a call is answered. Our device detects this change instantly, allowing your software to log the exact second a call was picked up, ensuring accurate billing and timing records.
