Great techniques, but language barrier exists
The visual instructions are fantastic and the quality of the printed reproductions is high. However, most of the detailed text is in Chinese. If you can read Chinese or use a translation app, this is a goldmine. The English captions help but aren't exhaustive.

Excellent paper quality for practice
I was worried the pages would be too glossy to practice on, but the paper has a nice texture that mimics rice paper slightly. I've been practicing the branch structures directly in the margin areas. A very well-produced instructional book.

Perfect for beginners interested in Chinese art

Good value for the price
For the amount of content provided, the price is very reasonable. It covers both freehand (Xieyi) and detailed (Gongbi) approaches, which gives a good overview. I deducted one star because I wish there were more color mixing guides specifically for winter scenes.

Beautiful inspiration
Even if you don't paint every single exercise, this book is worth it for the gallery section alone. The variety of plum blossom styles shown is inspiring. It helped me understand the spirit behind the brushwork rather than just copying shapes.
