Perfect for drying and painting
I grow these specifically for winter crafts. The shells dry evenly and the walls are thick enough to carve without breaking. Highly recommend for DIY enthusiasts.

Good but slow to start
The plants eventually took off, but they were slow starters in my cooler climate. I had to start them indoors earlier than expected. Once warm weather hit, they grew like weeds.

Great size, needs space
These definitely live up to the 'Giant' name. Make sure you have a very sturdy trellis because the vines get heavy. My Eight Treasures gourds were huge this year.

Healthy plants, big harvest
Very healthy plants with large leaves that provided nice shade for my patio. Harvested over 20 usable gourds from just three plants. Will buy again next season.

Fun variety pack
It's exciting not knowing exactly which shape will appear on the vine until they mature. The Ant-Belly variety was my favorite; such a cool texture.

Amazing germination rate!
I planted these last spring and almost every single seed sprouted. The variety pack is great because the shapes are so distinct. The hand-twist gourds turned out particularly unique.
Q: How do I save seeds for next year?
A: Select your best-formed gourds, let them dry completely until brown and lightweight, cut them open, remove the seeds, clean off the pulp, and store them in a cool, dry place.
Q: Are the gourds edible when young?
A: While some gourd varieties are edible when immature, this specific ornamental mix is bred for shape and shell thickness. We recommend growing known edible squash varieties if you intend to consume the fruit.
Q: Can these be grown in large containers instead of the ground?
A: While possible in very large containers (15+ gallons), these giant varieties perform best when planted directly in the ground where roots can spread extensively.
Q: When is the best time to harvest for drying?
A: Harvest when the vine begins to brown and die back, and the gourd stem turns woody. Ensure the skin is hard and cannot be punctured with a fingernail.
Q: Do I need to cure these gourds before using them for crafts?
A: Yes, after harvesting, gourds should be cleaned and allowed to dry in a well-ventilated area for several weeks to months until the seeds rattle inside and the shell is hard.
