Solid upgrade for older instruments
I installed these on my vintage guqin. They restored the instrument's usability without altering its visual character too much. One peg was slightly stiff at first but loosened up after a few uses.

No more string running

Great product, installation takes patience
The pegs themselves work flawlessly and look elegant on my guqin. However, the installation required careful drilling. If you are not confident with tools, I recommend asking a luthier to install them. Once on, they are fantastic.

Finally stable tuning!
I have struggled with traditional wooden pegs slipping for years. These mechanical pegs from Tingsong are a game changer. The felt bushings fit perfectly, and the tuning holds even after vigorous playing sessions.
Q: Is special glue needed for the felt bushings?
A: No, the felt bushings come pre-installed and are designed to stay in place via friction and the pressure of the peg mechanism. No additional adhesive is required or recommended.
Q: Do these pegs fit all standard guqin models?
A: They fit most standard guqins with traditional peg holes. However, since headstock thickness can vary slightly between makers, we recommend measuring your current peg hole diameter before purchasing.
Q: What if the peg feels too tight or too loose after installation?
A: The tension is adjustable via a small screw on the end of the peg shaft. Please refer to page 4 of the included installation guide for step-by-step instructions on calibrating the tension to your preference.
Q: Can I install these myself without damaging my instrument?
A: While the kit includes a detailed guide and tool, installation involves reaming the peg holes to a specific size. If you are uncomfortable modifying your instrument, we suggest professional installation by a qualified luthier.
Q: How do these compare to violin-style machine heads?
A: Unlike violin-style heads that mount on the side, these retain the traditional vertical look of guqin pegs while offering mechanical precision. They are less obtrusive visually but provide similar tuning stability.
