Great classroom demonstration tool
As an electronics instructor, having a few of these pre-assembled units is invaluable. When students get stuck debugging their own kits, they can compare voltages and waveforms against this working S66E model. The build quality is consistent across the five units I ordered.

Good educational value
The layout of the PCB is very clear, making it easy to trace the signal path from the antenna to the speaker. It's a classic six-tube design that really helps visualize how superheterodyne receivers work. Only wish it came with a schematic printed on the box.

Solid reception, simple design
The superheterodyne circuit works exactly as expected. Sound quality is decent for a small 8-ohm speaker. The casing feels a bit lightweight, but for a teaching tool, it's perfectly adequate. Tuning is smooth and the dial markings are legible.

Perfect for learning radio theory
I bought this finished unit to compare against the kit version I built last month. The soldering on this OEM product is flawless, and the alignment is spot on. It picks up local AM stations clearly without much static. Highly recommended for students who want a reference model.
Q: Can I modify the circuit to receive FM signals?
A: This unit is specifically designed and aligned for the AM broadcast band (525-1605 kHz). Modifying it for FM would require significant component changes and redesigning the RF front end, which is beyond standard modifications.
Q: What should I do if there is no sound when I turn it on?
A: First, check that the batteries are inserted with the correct polarity and have sufficient charge. Next, ensure the volume potentiometer is turned up. If issues persist, check the speaker connection wires inside the case.
Q: Is a schematic diagram available for this finished product?
A: Yes, the user manual included in the package contains the full schematic diagram for the S66E six-tube superheterodyne circuit, along with voltage test points for educational purposes.
