Perfect for Classroom Robotics
This expansion board makes it incredibly easy to add motors to our micro:bit projects. The students were able to build moving robots in under an hour using Mind+. The connections are sturdy and clearly labeled.

Great value, minor fit issue
Works exactly as described for the price. I had to push the micro:bit in a bit firmly to ensure all pins connected, but once seated, it works flawlessly. Motor control is smooth.

Mind+ Integration is Seamless
I bought this specifically for use with Mind+ software, and the blocks recognized the hardware immediately. No driver installation headaches. Highly recommended for beginners.

Good starter board
Simple plug-and-play setup. I wish it came with a small screwdriver for the motor terminals, but otherwise, it's a solid piece of hardware for learning electronics.

Durable and Kid-Friendly
My son has dropped his project twice already, and the board is still working perfectly. The plastic housing protects the components well. Great educational tool.
Q: Is this compatible with the original micro:bit V1?
A: Yes, the Zhangkong IO Expansion Board is fully compatible with both the micro:bit V1 and the newer V2 models.
Q: What programming languages work with this board?
A: You can use Microsoft MakeCode (blocks or JavaScript), MicroPython, C++, and the Mind+ graphical interface.
Q: Can I power the motors directly from the micro:bit USB port?
A: It is recommended to use an external battery pack for motors to prevent brownouts. The USB port can power the logic, but high-draw motors may cause the micro:bit to reset if powered solely through it.
Q: Does the package include the micro:bit board itself?
A: No, the package includes only the IO Expansion Board. You will need to provide your own BBC micro:bit separately.
Q: Does this board support servo motors or only DC motors?
A: This board is primarily designed for dual DC motors. While you can connect a servo to the generic IO pins (P0-P2), it does not have dedicated servo headers with built-in power regulation.
