Good board, tricky for beginners
The board itself works well, but if you don't have experience with Vivado and device trees, the setup curve is steep. Not really a 'plug and play' for absolute beginners to Zynq.

Great value, documentation could be better
Hardware quality is excellent for the price point. Booted Linux from SD card immediately. However, the schematic provided online was slightly outdated regarding pin mappings, so double-check with the latest forum posts.

Perfect for custom carrier board designs
The castellation holes are perfectly aligned and made soldering this core board onto my custom PCB very straightforward. The Zynq 7020 variant handles my image processing algorithms without breaking a sweat.

Ideal for learning FPGA-ARM interaction
As a graduate student, this board is perfect for understanding the AXI interconnect between the PS and PL sections. It's much more affordable than the official Xilinx kits.

Compact and powerful

Solid industrial performance
We integrated these into a batch of control units. They have been running 24/7 in a cabinet for three months with no issues. The wide temperature range claim seems accurate.
Q: Does the 7Z010 version support dual Ethernet?
A: The core board itself exposes one GMAC interface. Supporting dual Ethernet would require a switch chip on your custom carrier board, as the Zynq 7010 has limited MIO/EMIO resources compared to larger chips.
Q: Is the JTAG interface accessible for debugging?
A: Yes, the JTAG signals are routed to the header pins on the bottom edge, allowing you to connect an external JTAG debugger like the Platform Cable USB.
Q: What is the pitch of the castellation holes?
A: The pitch of the castellation holes is 1.27mm (50 mil), which is standard for many breakout boards and easy to route on a 4-layer PCB.
