Great hardware, documentation could be better
The board itself is excellent quality with stable power delivery. Bluetooth 5.3 LE works flawlessly for my low-energy applications. However, since the C6 is newer, some third-party library support is still catching up compared to the ESP32-S3. Still, a solid choice for future-proofing.

Perfect for Next-Gen IoT Projects
The Wi-Fi 6 support on this board is a game changer for my smart home sensors. The RISC-V architecture runs smoothly with ESP-IDF, and the USB-C connection makes flashing firmware incredibly easy. Highly recommended for anyone upgrading from older ESP32 models.

Seamless Migration from ESP32
Migrating my existing codebase to the C6 was surprisingly smooth. The performance boost in wireless throughput is noticeable immediately. Waveshare's layout is logical, making it easy to integrate into custom PCB designs later.

Excellent for Student Projects
We bought ten of these for our university robotics lab. Students find the Arduino IDE compatibility very approachable, while the advanced features allow for complex wireless communication tasks. No connectivity drops observed during testing.

Solid performance, runs cool
Unlike some previous generations, this board stays remarkably cool even under continuous Wi-Fi transmission loads. The only minor downside is that the external antenna connector requires a specific adapter which isn't included, but the onboard antenna works well for short-range.

Compact and Powerful
I was surprised by how much functionality Waveshare packed into such a small form factor. The pinout is clearly labeled, and the 4MB flash is sufficient for most of my logging projects. The build quality feels premium.
Q: Does this come with a case or enclosure?
A: No, this product includes only the development board. Cases or enclosures are sold separately. You may design a custom 3D printed case using the dimension files available in the product wiki.
Q: Can I power this board directly via the GPIO headers?
A: It is recommended to power the board via the USB-C port for stability. While there is a 5V pin on the header, supplying power directly to the 3.3V pin is dangerous and may damage the regulator. Stick to the 5V input pin if not using USB.
Q: Is this board compatible with the standard Arduino IDE?
A: Yes, the Waveshare ESP32-C6 is fully compatible with the Arduino IDE. You will need to install the ESP32 board package via the Board Manager and select the 'Xiao ESP32C6' or relevant C6 board option depending on the specific core version installed.
Q: Does it support Matter protocol out of the box?
A: The hardware supports Matter, as the ESP32-C6 chip is Matter-ready. However, implementing Matter requires using the ESP-IDF framework with the appropriate Matter SDK components; it is not pre-flashed with Matter firmware by default.
Q: What is the maximum current draw for the GPIO pins?
