Good value for money
Solid build quality and the pinout is clearly marked. I used it to build a simple OBDII scanner prototype. Only minor issue is the silk screen could be slightly larger, but overall very satisfied.

Perfect for STM32 projects
This module works flawlessly with my STM32 development board. The 3.3V logic level is exactly what I needed without extra level shifters. Signal integrity is excellent even at higher baud rates.

Compact and efficient
The small form factor fits perfectly into our robot chassis. Communication with motor controllers is stable. Would give 5 stars if it came with terminal blocks included.

Reliable transceiver
I have tested this on a noisy industrial environment and it maintained stable communication. The SN65HVD230 chip is a industry standard for a reason. Highly recommend for prototyping.

No issues whatsoever
Plug and play with ESP32 using a voltage regulator. The noise immunity is impressive. Delivered quickly and well packaged.
Q: Are the mounting holes grounded?
A: Yes, the mounting holes are connected to the ground plane of the PCB, which can help with shielding and mechanical grounding in your enclosure.
Q: Is this module compatible with 5V Arduino boards?
A: The SN65HVD230 operates at 3.3V. While it can interface with 5V systems, we recommend using a logic level converter or a 3.3V microcontroller to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Q: Does this board include termination resistors?
A: No, this breakout board does not include onboard termination resistors. You should add 120-ohm resistors across the CANH and CANL lines at both ends of your bus network externally.
Q: Can I use this for high-speed CAN FD?
A: The SN65HVD230 is designed for classical CAN 2.0B up to 1 Mbps. It does not support the flexible data rate (FD) features required for CAN FD protocols.
Q: What is the maximum cable length supported?
A: Cable length depends on the baud rate. At 1 Mbps, typical reliable length is around 40 meters. At lower speeds like 125 kbps, you can extend up to 500 meters with proper twisted pair cabling.
