Excellent documentation and community support
Sipeed has done a great job with the wiki and examples. The pinout is clearly marked on the silkscreen. I appreciate that it uses standard 2.54mm spacing for easy prototyping without needing custom PCBs immediately.

Best budget FPGA board available
Bought this for a university lab course. The minimalist design removes all the unnecessary clutter found on larger boards. It forces you to focus on the core logic design. Highly recommended for educators.

Great value but limited resources
For the price, you cannot beat this board. It fits perfectly on a standard breadboard. Just keep in mind that 1K logic elements is quite small, so it's best for learning basics or simple control logic, not complex video processing.

Good tool for specific learning goals
If you are transitioning from Arduino to FPGA, this is a gentle step up. The Gowin software installation was straightforward on Windows. My only wish is that it had a bit more block RAM for larger buffers.

Perfect entry point for FPGA beginners
This board is incredibly easy to use right out of the box. The USB-C connection handles both power and programming, which simplifies the setup significantly. I had my first blinking LED running in Verilog within an hour.

Compact and robust
I was worried about the size, but it's very sturdy. The Type-C connector feels solid. I've used it for several student projects involving PWM motor control and simple UART communication without any issues.
Q: Are there example projects for driving a VGA display?
A: While the 1K resource count limits complex graphics, there are community examples for simple VGA timing generators and basic pattern output available on the Sipeed GitHub repository.
Q: Is VHDL supported or only Verilog?
A: Both Verilog and VHDL are fully supported by the Gowin EDA synthesis tools compatible with the Tang Nano1K.
Q: Can I program this using Linux?
A: Absolutely. The Gowin EDA tools have a Linux version, and the board is recognized as a standard USB device by most modern distributions.
Q: Does this board come with a USB cable included?
