Great hardware, steep learning curve
The hardware specs are amazing, especially the NPU for AI tasks. However, finding stable drivers for some peripherals took a bit of digging. Once set up, it runs like a charm.

Incredible performance for the price
This board blows away my previous Raspberry Pi setups. The 8K video output is smooth, and compiling code is significantly faster thanks to the 8-core processor. Highly recommended for serious projects.

Emulation powerhouse
Runs almost everything up to PS2 and GameCube smoothly. Some specific BIOS configurations were tricky to get right, but the community forums were helpful. Great value.

Solid build quality and support
Radxa has done a great job with the documentation. The board feels premium, ports are tight, and the OS images are updated regularly. A must-have for developers.

Perfect for home automation hub
I replaced my old server with this little beast. It handles Home Assistant, Docker containers, and media streaming without breaking a sweat. The silence is also a huge plus.

Best SBC for edge computing
Used this for an edge AI project involving object detection. The TOPS performance on the NPU is genuine. Boot times are fast, and the thermal management is adequate with a passive heatsink.
Q: Is the GPIO pinout fully compatible with Raspberry Pi 4 HATs?
A: The 40-pin header is physically and electrically compatible with most Raspberry Pi HATs, but please check voltage levels and specific pin functions in the datasheet before connecting sensitive equipment.
Q: Can I power this board using a standard phone charger?
A: You need a USB-C power delivery adapter capable of supplying at least 5V/4A (20W). Standard phone chargers often do not provide enough current for stable operation under load.
Q: What operating systems are officially supported?
A: Officially supported OS images include Ubuntu, Debian, Android 12, and Buildroot. Community ports for Arch Linux and other distributions are also available.
Q: Does the M.2 slot support SATA SSDs or only NVMe?
A: The M.2 Key-M slot on the ROCK 5A is designed for NVMe SSDs. It does not natively support SATA M.2 drives without an external adapter.
Q: Does this board support dual 4K display output simultaneously?
A: Yes, the ROCK 5A supports dual 4K@60Hz output via HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 1.4 simultaneously.
