Great hardware, documentation needs work
The board itself is powerful and runs cool under load. However, getting the drivers set up for some specific sensors took longer than expected due to sparse documentation. Once running, it's very stable.

Excellent performance for edge AI projects
The 20 TOPS performance is real. I successfully deployed a YOLOv8 model for object detection and the inference speed is impressive compared to other boards in this price range. The onboard WiFi makes setup very convenient.

Perfect for my autonomous robot
I needed something with strong AI capabilities and wireless connectivity for a mobile robot. This board fits perfectly. The GPIO pins are easy to interface with motor drivers, and the Bluetooth connection is solid.

Reliable for prototyping industrial solutions
We used this for a smart camera prototype. The dual camera interfaces are a huge plus. The build quality feels robust enough for our initial field testing phase.

A: For most standard AI workloads, the included passive heatsink is sufficient. If you plan to run continuous heavy inference at high ambient temperatures, adding a small fan is recommended.

A: The 20 TOPS rating refers to INT8 precision. For FP16 operations, the performance will be lower, typically around 10 TFLOPS depending on the specific model architecture.
Q: Does this board support Ubuntu or only Android?
A: The OrangePi Ascend AI Pro primarily supports a customized Ubuntu-based OS optimized for the Ascend NPU. Android support is currently limited and not recommended for development purposes.
