Solid build quality
The PCB looks professional and the FPC cable is sturdy. The lens mount allows for slight adjustments if needed. Only giving 4 stars because the included cable is a bit short for some enclosure setups.

Great sensor, documentation could be better
The hardware itself is excellent. Colors are vibrant and low-light performance is decent. However, finding specific register settings for custom exposure control required digging through forums. Once configured, it works flawlessly.

Perfect match for RK3588 projects
This camera module integrates seamlessly with the Orange Pi 5. The MIPI interface was easy to configure using the provided drivers, and the image quality from the OV13855 sensor is outstanding for computer vision tasks.

Plug and play on Ubuntu
Installed it on my Orange Pi 5 running Ubuntu 22.04. It was recognized immediately after enabling the device tree overlay. No compilation of kernel modules was necessary. Very impressed with the ease of use.

Ideal for AI object detection
I am using this for a robotics project involving YOLOv8. The 13MP resolution provides enough detail for accurate detection, and the frame rate is stable. Highly recommended for edge AI applications.

Excellent value for money
Compared to other industrial cameras with similar specs, this is incredibly affordable. The OV13855 is a proven sensor, and having it pre-configured for the RK3588 saves weeks of development time.
Q: Does this support night vision or IR illumination?
A: The OV13855 sensor has good low-light sensitivity but does not have built-in IR cut filters or IR illuminators. You can remove the IR filter manually for dedicated night vision setups with external IR LEDs.
Q: What is the maximum cable length supported for stable transmission?
A: For reliable 4K video transmission, we recommend keeping the FPC extension cable under 20cm. Longer cables may require signal repeaters or result in data loss depending on your enclosure design.
Q: Can I run multiple of these cameras simultaneously?
A: The RK3588 supports multiple MIPI cameras. However, this specific bundle includes one camera. You would need to purchase additional units and ensure your board has enough MIPI lanes to support concurrent operation.
Q: Is this camera compatible with the Orange Pi 5 Plus model?
A: Yes, this camera module is fully compatible with the Orange Pi 5, Orange Pi 5 Plus, and any board featuring the RK3588 SoC with a available 4-lane MIPI CSI interface.
