Solid board, minor pinout changes
Excellent board overall. Just be aware that if you have old accessories designed for V1, some pin assignments have shifted slightly. The improved processor speed is noticeable in complex loops.

Essential for STEM education
We ordered 30 of these for our school lab. They are durable, easy to reset, and the Bluetooth connectivity allows for wireless control projects which the kids absolutely love.

Reliable workhorse
We use these daily in our maker space. They hold up well to constant plugging and unplugging. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the speaker volume could be slightly louder for noisy environments.

Great for beginners and pros alike
Bought this for my 10-year-old to learn Python. The transition from block coding to text-based programming is seamless. The sound sensor is very responsive and fun to experiment with.

Perfect upgrade for classroom coding
The V2 version is a fantastic improvement over the original. The built-in speaker and microphone add so many new possibilities for student projects without needing extra hardware. Setup was instant via USB.

Easy to start, hard to master
I had zero coding experience before this. The online editor is intuitive, and seeing the lights flash based on my code was incredibly rewarding. The microphone feature lets me make simple clap-activated switches.
Q: Is the microphone sensitive enough for voice commands?
A: The built-in MEMS microphone is designed for detecting sound levels and simple patterns (like clapping). While it can detect speech volume, complex voice recognition usually requires pairing with a more powerful device via Bluetooth.
Q: Is this board compatible with the old micro:bit V1 accessories?
A: Most edge connector accessories are compatible, but please note that some pin functions have changed between V1 and V2. We recommend checking the official pinout diagram before connecting sensitive hardware.
Q: Can I power this using a standard phone charger?
A: Yes, the micro:bit V2 can be powered via the micro-USB port using any standard 5V USB power source, including phone chargers, power banks, or computer USB ports.
