Good for industrial control prototypes
We use these for initial proof-of-concept designs before moving to custom PCBs. The only downside is the lack of Ethernet on this specific model, but for general IO and motor control, it's fantastic.

Reliable and versatile
Used this for a home automation controller. The multiple UARTs and timers available on the F103RBT6 make it very flexible. The build quality feels premium despite the low cost.

Perfect for learning ARM Cortex-M3
This board is an excellent entry point into the STM32 ecosystem. The Arduino compatibility makes porting old sketches easy, while the ST-LINK debugger works flawlessly out of the box with CubeIDE.

Solid board, minor pin layout quirks
The performance is great and the 72MHz speed is plenty for most control tasks. Just be aware that not every Arduino shield fits perfectly due to slight spacing differences on some pins, but it works for most standard shields.

Easy setup for beginners
I was intimidated by moving from AVR to ARM, but this Nucleo board made the transition smooth. The examples provided by ST are clear and the hardware just works immediately upon plugging in USB.
Q: What IDEs are compatible with this board?
A: This board is fully supported by STM32CubeIDE, Keil MDK, IAR Embedded Workbench, and can also be programmed using the Arduino IDE, PlatformIO, and various command-line tools like GCC.
Q: Can I power this board with a 9V battery?
A: Yes, you can connect a 9V battery to the VIN pin or the Arduino-compatible power jack. The onboard voltage regulator will step it down to 5V and 3.3V for the microcontroller.
