Compact and powerful
Impressed by how small yet capable this board is. I used it for a simple security camera project, and the face detection examples worked perfectly. Documentation online is plentiful too.

Solid performance for prototyping
Great for rapid prototyping. The PSRAM helps significantly with buffer handling for video streams. Only minor issue is the lack of a built-in USB-to-UART bridge on some batches, so check your specific model.

Excellent upgrade from older models
Upgraded from the OV2640 version, and the difference in image clarity is night and day. The Bluetooth connectivity is also a nice bonus for local debugging. Highly recommended for students and makers.

Best budget camera module
I bought three of these for different rooms in my smart home setup. They integrate easily with Home Assistant. The image quality in daylight is surprisingly good for a $10 module.

Good hardware, needs stable power
The camera quality is excellent for this price point. However, ensure you use a robust 5V power supply; otherwise, it might reboot during high-resolution captures. Once powered correctly, it runs smoothly.

Perfect for IoT vision projects
This board works flawlessly out of the box. The OV3660 sensor provides crisp images, and setting up the Wi-Fi stream was straightforward using the Arduino IDE. Great value for the price.
Q: Is the FTDI programmer included in the package?
A: No, the FTDI USB-to-TTL serial adapter is sold separately. You will need one to upload code to the board initially.
Q: Can I power this directly from a 3.7V LiPo battery?
A: While the ESP32 chip operates at 3.3V, the board generally requires a stable 5V input via the 5V pin to drive the camera and Wi-Fi reliably. We recommend using a regulator if connecting to a LiPo cell.
Q: What is the maximum video resolution supported for streaming?
A: The OV3660 sensor supports up to UXGA (1600x1200) resolution. However, for smooth Wi-Fi streaming, SVGA (800x600) or VGA (640x480) is often recommended to maintain higher frame rates.
Q: Does this support Face Recognition out of the box?
A: The hardware supports it, and there are example sketches available in the ESP32 library for face detection and recognition. You will need to enroll faces via the web interface provided in the examples.
Q: Does this board come with a microSD card slot?
