Robust for factory testing
We use these boards for machine vision inspection lines. They handle the vibration and temperature swings of the factory floor well. The only downside is the FAKRA connector can be tricky to source replacements for locally.

Solved my interference issues
I switched from standard CSI cables to this GMSL setup to avoid EMI in my drone frame. The difference is night and day. No more video dropouts even when motors are at full throttle. Highly recommended for noisy environments.

Seamless integration with RPi4
Plug and play experience after installing the provided device tree overlay. The 15-meter cable allowed me to place the camera far away from the processing unit without signal degradation. Very satisfied with this purchase.

Excellent learning tool for SerDes
Bought this for my university thesis on high-speed serial communication. The board exposes test points that made debugging with an oscilloscope very easy. It's a bit pricey for a hobbyist but worth it for the educational value.

Perfect for automotive robotics projects
This board pair works flawlessly with my Jetson Orin. The GMSL connection provides a stable video feed with virtually zero latency, which was critical for our autonomous rover project. Setup documentation was clear and easy to follow.

Great hardware, needs specific drivers
The build quality is excellent and the signal integrity over the long cable is impressive. Just be aware that you need to compile specific kernel modules for Raspberry Pi OS. Once configured, the OV5640 sensor produces sharp images.
Q: Is the source code for the drivers open source?
A: Yes, all driver source code, device tree overlays, and sample Python/C++ applications are hosted on our public GitHub page under an MIT license.
Q: What is the maximum cable length supported without signal loss?
A: The MAX9295/96717 chipset is rated for up to 15 meters using standard automotive coaxial cabling. In low-interference environments, some users have successfully reached 20 meters, but 15m is the guaranteed spec.
Q: Can I use a different camera sensor with the transmitter board?
A: The board is specifically routed for the OV5640 footprint and pinout. Using a different sensor would require schematic modifications and potentially re-designing the PCB, so it is not recommended for standard use.
Q: Does the kit include the coaxial cable?
A: Yes, the complete kit includes one 5-meter FAKRA-to-FAKRA coaxial cable. Longer cables can be purchased separately if your project requires greater distances.
Q: Does this board support Raspberry Pi 5 out of the box?
A: Yes, it supports Raspberry Pi 5, but you will need to update the device tree overlay file to match the Pi 5's PCIe architecture. Instructions are included in the GitHub repository linked in the manual.
