Great for learning embedded systems
As a student, this was a great way to learn about timing protocols and GPIO control. The only downside is that the pins are a bit close together for thick jumper wires, but thin ones work fine.

Good quality, fast shipping
The build quality is solid and the soldering points are clean. One LED was slightly dimmer than the others, but it didn't affect my overall project. Great value for the price.

Bright and reliable
I used these for a custom keyboard backlight. The brightness is adjustable and the color accuracy is impressive for such a small module. Will buy more for future builds.

Easy to program
Worked flawlessly with the FastLED library. The documentation provided in the description helped me get started immediately. No issues with signal integrity even when daisy-chaining three modules.
Q: Is a level shifter required when using with a 3.3V microcontroller?
A: While many users report success connecting directly to 3.3V boards like ESP32 or Raspberry Pi, for long-term reliability and stable signal transmission, we recommend using a logic level shifter to convert 3.3V data signals to 5V.
Q: What is the maximum number of modules I can chain together?
A: Technically, you can chain hundreds of modules. The practical limit depends on your power supply capacity and the refresh rate you require. For long chains, consider injecting power at multiple points to prevent voltage drop.
Q: Can these modules be powered directly from a USB port?
A: Yes, since they operate at 5V, you can power them directly from a standard USB port. However, if you plan to light all LEDs at maximum brightness, ensure your USB port can supply sufficient current (approx. 60mA per module).
Q: Which Arduino library works best with this WS2812B module?
A: The most popular and robust libraries are 'Adafruit NeoPixel' and 'FastLED'. Both offer extensive examples and support for complex animations. You can install them directly via the Arduino Library Manager.
Q: Does this come with pre-soldered headers?
A: No, this module is sold without pre-soldered headers to keep shipping costs low and allow flexibility for surface mount or custom wire connections. You will need to solder your own 2.54mm pin headers.
