Best board for the price point
I switched from a competitor's board to the VIM3 for a robotics project. The dual camera interface works flawlessly with OpenCV. Thermal management is good even under sustained load.

Solid for prototyping industrial controls
We used this for a prototype assembly line monitor. It handles multiple HDMI outputs without lag. Only minor issue was the initial WiFi driver stability, but a firmware update fixed it.

Perfect for AI Edge Computing Projects
The A311D chip delivers exactly the promised 5 TOPs for my object detection models. The multi-screen capability is a huge bonus for building kiosks. Documentation is solid and the community support is active.

Great hardware, steep learning curve
Hardware quality is excellent and ports are well laid out. However, getting the custom Ubuntu image configured for the NPU took some time. Once set up, performance is stellar for computer vision tasks.

True open source spirit
Khadas provides excellent mainline kernel support. Being able to compile custom builds easily is a game changer. The build quality feels premium compared to other dev boards in this category.

Ideal for university projects
Using this for my senior thesis on smart city sensors. The GPIO headers are standard and easy to interface with external sensors. The AI acceleration makes real-time processing possible.
Q: Is there a heatsink included in the package?
A: The standard package includes a basic passive heatsink. For heavy AI workloads or overclocking, we recommend purchasing the optional active cooling fan kit separately to maintain optimal thermal throttling limits.
Q: Can I power this board solely through the USB-C port?
A: Yes, the USB-C port supports 5V/3A input which is sufficient for standard operations. However, if you plan to connect multiple high-power peripherals or drives, we recommend using the 12V DC barrel jack.
Q: Does this board support running TensorFlow Lite models directly on the NPU?
A: Yes, the VIM3 supports TensorFlow Lite models optimized for the Amlogic NPU. You will need to use the provided SDK tools to convert and quantize your models for best performance.
Q: What is the maximum resolution supported on dual HDMI outputs?
A: The VIM3 can drive dual 4K displays at 60Hz simultaneously via HDMI 2.1, making it ideal for digital signage or multi-monitor workstation setups.
Q: Does this support Android 11 or higher?
A: The board officially ships with Android 9.0 optimized for the A311D. Community builds for Android 11 exist, but for stable industrial or development use, we currently recommend the official Android 9.0 or latest Ubuntu LTS images.
