Perfect for AI Voice Projects
This board is exactly what I needed for my Xiaozhi robot project. The N16R8 configuration provides plenty of memory for running local speech recognition models without lag. Setup with ESP-IDF was smooth.

Best value ESP32-S3 kit
I've tried several dev boards, and this combination kit offers the best balance of power and peripherals. The built-in USB-to-Serial converter works flawlessly on both Windows and Linux. Highly recommended for learning.

Good for university projects
Bought this for my final year project involving voice control. It works great with Arduino IDE and PlatformIO. The only downside is that the header pins were not pre-soldered, so I had to do that myself.

Reliable for classroom use
We purchased ten of these for our workshop. They have been reliable across all stations. The AI capabilities demonstrated by the Xiaozhi example code really engage the students.

Great specs, minor pinout confusion
The performance is outstanding for the price. The dual-core processor handles multitasking well. I deducted one star because the pinout diagram in the included manual was slightly hard to read, but the online docs are excellent.

Solid hardware for IoT
Using this for a smart home hub prototype. The Wi-Fi range is impressive, and the extra PSRAM allows me to buffer audio streams easily. The build quality feels robust and durable.
Q: Can I power this board directly via the VIN pin?
A: Yes, you can supply 5V to the VIN pin. The onboard regulator will step it down to 3.3V for the chip. Do not exceed 5.5V to avoid damaging the board.
Q: What microphone is recommended for the Xiaozhi AI robot demo?
A: For the best results with the Xiaozhi demo, we recommend using an I2S digital microphone module like the INMP441 or MSME1, which connects directly to the dedicated I2S pins on the S3.
Q: Does the 16MB flash support OTA updates?
A: Absolutely. The 16MB flash provides ample space for storing multiple firmware partitions, making Over-The-Air (OTA) updates very convenient and reliable.
Q: Is this compatible with the Arduino IDE?
A: Yes, the ESP32-S3-DevKitC-1 is fully compatible with the Arduino IDE. You just need to install the ESP32 board manager package and select the 'ESP32S3 Dev Module' board.
