Perfect for compact IoT projects
This board is incredibly small yet powerful. The USB-C connector makes programming a breeze compared to older micro-USB boards. Wi-Fi connection is stable and the RISC-V architecture handles my sensor data logging without any lag.

Solid for prototyping
We used these for rapid prototyping of industrial sensors. They handle temperature variations well within the spec sheet limits. Would prefer if it came with header pins pre-soldered, but that's a minor inconvenience.

Great value, minor pin labeling issue
Excellent performance for the price. I successfully deployed a Home Assistant node on it. The only reason for 4 stars is that the silk screen pin labels are a bit tiny, so you definitely need the datasheet handy when wiring up peripherals.

Strong signal range
Impressed by the antenna performance on such a small board. It maintains a strong connection even two rooms away from my router. The build quality feels robust and the components are neatly soldered.

Beginner friendly
As someone new to embedded systems, this board was easy to get started with using the Arduino IDE. Plenty of tutorials available online for the C3 series. The form factor fits perfectly into my custom 3D printed enclosure.

Bluetooth LE works flawlessly
I needed a board specifically for BLE beacon testing and this exceeded expectations. Battery consumption is very low in deep sleep mode. Setup with ESP-IDF was straightforward following the official documentation.
Q: Can I power this board directly with a 3.7V LiPo battery?
A: Yes, you can connect a 3.7V LiPo battery to the 3.3V pin if regulated, or preferably to the VIN pin if your battery module includes protection circuitry, though direct connection to VIN usually expects 5V. For raw LiPo, please ensure voltage stays within the safe operating range of the LDO regulator specified in the schematic.
Q: Does this board support 5GHz Wi-Fi networks?
A: No, the ESP32-C3 chip only supports 2.4GHz Wi-Fi bands (802.11b/g/n). It does not support 5GHz networks.
Q: What is the maximum current draw per GPIO pin?
A: Each GPIO pin can source or sink up to 40mA. However, the total current for all IO ports combined should not exceed the limits specified in the ESP32-C3 datasheet to avoid damaging the chip.
Q: Is this compatible with the original ESP32 libraries?
A: Most libraries are compatible, but some may require updates to support the RISC-V architecture instead of the Xtensa dual-core found in the original ESP32. Always check library compatibility notes for ESP32-C3 specifically.
Q: Does it come with headers soldered?
A: No, this board is sold as a standalone module without pre-soldered header pins to keep the profile low for embedding. You will need to solder your own headers if required for breadboard use.
