Decent but instructions lacking
The hardware is fine, but I had to look up online tutorials to understand the 4-wire vs 3-wire setup. Once wired correctly, it functions as expected.

Fast response time
I tested the response time with a lighter and it was instant. The digital output makes it very easy to interface with microcontrollers.

Good sensitivity, watch out for sunlight
Works well indoors. Just note that direct sunlight can trigger false positives since it detects infrared. Great value for hobby projects.

Perfect for Arduino Safety Prototypes
This sensor works flawlessly with my Arduino Uno. I used it to build an automatic shutoff system for a model engine. The sensitivity is adjustable via the potentiometer.
Q: Can this be used with a Raspberry Pi?
A: Yes, this module is compatible with Raspberry Pi GPIO pins. Ensure you connect the VCC to 5V or 3.3V depending on your configuration.
Q: Is this certified for residential fire alarms?
A: No, this module is designed for educational, hobbyist, and industrial prototyping purposes only. It is not certified for residential life safety systems.
Q: What is the maximum detection distance?
A: Under optimal conditions, the sensor can detect a flame up to 100cm away. However, effective range depends on flame intensity.
Q: Does this work in direct sunlight?
A: Direct sunlight contains infrared radiation which may trigger the sensor. It is recommended for indoor use or shielded environments.
Q: What is the difference between the 3-wire and 4-wire setup?
A: The 3-wire setup provides digital output only. The 4-wire setup includes an additional analog output pin for varying signal strength measurement.
