Good quality for the price
As an adult beginner, I found these brushes very responsive. The goat hair brush is particularly soft and great for flowing lines. The only minor issue is that the bamboo handle on the smallest brush felt slightly rough.

Solid mixed hair performance

Perfect starter kit for my daughter
I bought this set for my 10-year-old who is just starting calligraphy classes. The brushes hold ink well, and the variety of sizes allows her to practice different strokes easily. The included inkstone is a nice bonus.

Excellent for Regular Script practice
The medium Kai brush is fantastic for practicing Regular Script. It maintains a sharp tip even after multiple dips in ink. Highly recommend for anyone serious about learning the basics.

Exceeded expectations
I was skeptical about buying a beginner set online, but the quality is surprisingly high. The wolf hair brush provides excellent snap for clerical script characters. Very satisfied.
Q: How should I store the brushes to prevent damage?
A: After washing and reshaping the tips, hang the brushes vertically with the bristles facing down or lay them flat. Avoid storing them upright in a cup while wet, as water can seep into the ferrule and loosen the glue.
Q: Do I need to soak the brushes before using them for the first time?
A: Yes, it is recommended to gently soak the bristles in lukewarm water for a few minutes to remove any protective sizing and allow the hairs to expand fully before your first use.
Q: Is the ink stick included suitable for daily practice or just for display?
A: The included ink stick is fully functional and suitable for daily practice. Simply grind it on the provided inkstone with a small amount of water to create fresh ink.
Q: What is the difference between the Large Baiyun and the Medium Kai brush?
A: The Large Baiyun is a larger, softer brush ideal for broad strokes and filling in large characters, while the Medium Kai is firmer and smaller, designed specifically for precise strokes in Regular Script.
