Solid choice for chess notation
I use these specifically for recording Go and Xiangqi games. The medium brush is perfect for writing clear, legible characters quickly. Only minor issue is the lacquer on the handle feels slightly slippery when hands are wet.

Exceptional spring and control
These brushes are fantastic for running script. The wolf hair provides just the right amount of stiffness while maintaining a sharp tip. I use them daily for my Guqin practice sheets.

Perfect for detailed painting
I bought this set primarily for bamboo leaf painting. The smallest brush in the set allows for incredibly fine lines, and the larger ones hold enough ink for broad strokes without dripping.

Great quality, requires breaking in
The craftsmanship is evident, but the brushes were quite stiff out of the box. After soaking and using them with fresh ink a few times, they softened up beautifully. Now they are my go-to set.

Beautiful presentation and performance
The wooden box is sturdy and elegant, making this a great gift. The brushes themselves perform flawlessly on Xuan paper, creating crisp edges and smooth transitions.
Q: How should I clean and store these brushes after use?
A: Rinse thoroughly with cool water until the water runs clear. Gently reshape the tip and let it air dry horizontally or hang it with the tip facing down. Once dry, store them in the included wooden box.
Q: Do these brushes come pre-soaked or do I need to prepare them?
A: The brushes come with a protective glue sizing on the tips to maintain their shape during shipping. You should soak the tips in lukewarm water for a few minutes to dissolve the glue before first use.
Q: What is the length of the largest brush in the set?
A: The largest brush has a total handle length of approximately 28 cm, with a bristle length of about 6.5 cm, suitable for large character calligraphy.
Q: Is the wolf hair synthetic or natural?
A: This set uses natural wolf hair blended with other natural fibers. We do not use synthetic materials in our Premium Professional Grade line.
Q: Can these be used with liquid ink sticks or only bottled ink?
A: They work excellently with both. However, for the best experience with these professional brushes, we recommend grinding your own ink stick to achieve the desired consistency.
