Excellent ink layering
This semi-sized paper allows for excellent ink layering. I used it for a national exhibition piece, and the final result had great depth. The four-foot size is standard and easy to frame.

Beautiful retro aesthetic

Perfect for competition entries
The texture of this paper is exceptional. The plant dye gives it an authentic antique look that judges love. The ink spreads beautifully without bleeding too much, ideal for my running script pieces.
Q: Is this paper suitable for watercolor painting as well as calligraphy?
A: While primarily designed for calligraphy, the semi-sized nature and mulberry bark content allow for light watercolor washes. However, for heavy watercolor work, we recommend our fully unsized varieties.
Q: How should I store this paper to maintain its quality?
A: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. We recommend keeping it in its original packaging or wrapping it in acid-free tissue to prevent moisture absorption and dust accumulation.
Q: What is the exact thickness of the paper?
A: The paper has a traditional weight suitable for four-foot scrolls, approximately 60-70 gsm. It is thick enough to prevent show-through but thin enough to fold easily for mounting.
Q: Does the plant dye smell strong when opened?
A: There is a very faint, natural herbal scent due to the plant dye and mulberry bark, but it is not overpowering and dissipates quickly after unpacking. It contains no artificial fragrances.
Q: Can I use this for small regular script (Xiao Kai)?
A: Yes, absolutely. The surface texture is smooth enough for fine details required in small regular script, while still providing enough tooth to hold the ink securely.
