Excellent for layering

I love how this paper handles multiple layers of color without pillings or tearing. The soft mount surface is gentle on the brush tips.

Good but requires practice

The paper is high quality, but if you are used to standard white Xuan, the absorption rate feels different. It took me a few tries to get the water-to-ink ratio right.

Perfect for Gongbi details

Great quality, slightly pricey

I am new to Chinese painting and found this paper very forgiving. The sizing prevents the ink from spreading too fast. Only giving 4 stars because I wish the A3 pack had more sheets.

Q: Does the A3 size come in a pack of 10 or 20?

A: The A3 size currently comes in a pack of 10 sheets. We offer bulk packs of 20 for the 8-inch and A4 sizes.

Q: Is the antique color consistent across all batches?

A: Yes, we strive for consistency. However, as this is a natural fiber product, there may be very slight variations in tone, which adds to the authentic character of the paper.

Q: Is this paper suitable for sumi-e ink wash painting?

A: While it can be used for light washes, this paper is specifically sized and textured for Gongbi and detailed work. For heavy ink wash, you might prefer an unsized Xuan paper.
