Excellent educational value
This kit bridges the gap between play and learning. My son learned about grain direction and how to adjust the blade depth. He was so proud to eat dinner with the chopsticks he made.

Durable and safe for kids
I was worried about safety, but the blade guard and the design of the plane make it very safe for supervised use. The beech wood blanks are dense enough to feel real but soft enough to carve easily.

Good quality, needs extra blanks
The tool itself is high quality. We made one pair successfully, but my kids wanted to make more immediately. I wish it came with a few extra wood blanks, but we bought separate lumber easily.

Great introduction to Luban arts
As a parent interested in traditional crafts, this kit is fantastic. It teaches respect for tools and materials. The wood quality is excellent, and the blade holds an edge well enough for soft woods.

Fun weekend project
My daughter and I spent a lovely afternoon making chopsticks. The only reason for 4 stars is that the sandpaper included ran out quickly, but otherwise, it was a wonderful experience.

Perfect for our school labor tech class
We bought several of these kits for our elementary woodcraft module. The children loved making their own chopsticks, and the plane is sized perfectly for small hands. The instructions were clear and safe.
Q: Is the blade sharp enough to cause injury?
A: The blade is sharpened for functionality to cut wood effectively. While designed with safety features like a guard, it should always be used under adult supervision, and users should follow the included safety guide.
Q: What is the recommended age for this kit?
A: We recommend this kit for children aged 8 and up. Younger children may participate but must have direct, hands-on assistance from an adult at all times.
Q: Is the wood treated with any chemicals?
A: No, the beech wood blanks are natural and unfinished. They are safe for handling and, once sanded smooth and finished with food-safe oil by the user, are suitable for making eating utensils.
Q: How do I adjust the depth of the cut on the plane?
A: There is a small brass knob on the top rear of the plane. Turning it clockwise lowers the blade for a deeper cut, while counter-clockwise raises it for a finer shave. Please refer to page 3 of the instruction manual for diagrams.
Q: Can additional wood blanks be purchased separately?
A: Yes, we sell refill packs of beech wood blanks specifically cut for this chopstick maker kit. You can find them in the 'Accessories' section of our store.
