Exceeded expectations
I was hesitant to buy a viola online without playing it first, but the return policy gave me confidence. I'm keeping it! The projection is surprising for a mid-range instrument.

Warm and mellow sound
If you are looking for a bright, piercing viola, this might not be it. This instrument has a very warm, mellow, and woody character which is exactly what I wanted for classical repertoire.

Beautiful craftsmanship
The attention to detail on the purfling and scroll carving is excellent. It looks like an instrument costing twice as much. The oil varnish gives it a nice matte look that feels great under the chin.

Exceptional tone for the price
I upgraded from a student laminate to the Christina MS600 and the difference is night and day. The single-piece top provides incredible resonance, and the lower strings have a rich, dark quality that projects well in my chamber group.

Perfect for advancing students
Bought this for my daughter who is preparing for conservatory auditions. Her teacher was impressed by the evenness of the tone across all four strings. It responds very well to nuanced bowing.

Great instrument, needs setup
The wood quality is stunning, especially the flamed maple back. However, like most online instruments, it arrived needing a professional setup. Once my luthier adjusted the bridge and soundpost, it sings beautifully.
Q: Can I exchange this for a different size if it doesn't fit?
A: Yes, we offer a 30-day exchange policy for size changes provided the instrument is returned in its original condition with no scratches, rosin buildup, or modifications. Please contact us immediately if you need an exchange.
Q: What is the string length of the 16-inch model?
A: The vibrating string length for the 16-inch body size is approximately 370mm (14.5 inches). Please note that body size and string length can vary slightly due to the handcrafted nature of the instrument.
Q: Does this viola come with a case and bow?
A: The Christina MS600 is sold as an outfit which includes a shaped hard case, a Brazilwood bow with horsehair, rosin, and a shoulder rest. However, serious players often upgrade the bow and strings separately.
Q: Is the bridge fitted or unfitted upon arrival?
A: The bridge is shipped unfitted (flat) to prevent damage during transit. It must be carved and fitted to the specific arching of your instrument by a qualified luthier before playing.
Q: How long does the hand-applied varnish take to cure?
A: While the instrument is playable immediately, oil varnish continues to cure and harden over several months. We recommend avoiding extreme temperature changes and direct sunlight during the first few weeks to allow the finish to set properly.
