Safe around pets
I was worried about the electric grid with my cats, but the protective casing is very secure. They can't touch the inside, and the unit itself is sturdy enough not to tip over easily.

Good but needs frequent cleaning
The device works as advertised and kills insects effectively. However, if you have a lot of bugs, the tray fills up quickly and needs to be emptied every couple of days to maintain efficiency.

Works well for the patio
I bought this for my covered courtyard and it does a great job keeping flies and mosquitoes away during dinner. Just make sure it's plugged into an outlet protected from direct rain.
