Good for advanced projects
Not recommended for absolute beginners since you need to write your own decoding logic, but for anyone familiar with embedded systems, this is a powerful tool. The response time is nearly instantaneous.

Excellent build quality
Solid PCB and clear labeling for all 8 channels. Connecting it to an Arduino was straightforward. The fact that it doesn't have an onboard MCU means I have full control over the logic, which is exactly what I needed.

Reliable and fast

Great precision, needs calibration
The grayscale detection is very accurate once you spend time calibrating the potentiometers. It handles complex tracks with sharp turns much better than 4-channel modules. Just wish the manual had more examples on color tuning.

Perfect for competition bots
This 8-channel sensor is incredibly responsive. We used it for our university robotics contest, and the ability to distinguish between colored lines gave us a huge advantage over teams using standard infrared sensors.

Best value for 8 channels
I've tested several brands, and Yahboom offers the best consistency across all channels. No dead zones detected. It successfully tracked a blue tape line on a gray floor without any issues.
Q: Can this sensor detect red lines?
A: This module is optimized for Black, White, Yellow, Blue, and Green paths. While it may detect red under specific lighting conditions, it is not guaranteed or calibrated for red line tracking.
Q: Is the mounting hole pattern compatible with standard chassis kits?
A: The module features standard 3mm mounting holes spaced to fit most generic robot chassis and acrylic frames commonly used in educational competitions.
Q: What is the maximum speed this sensor can handle?
A: The sensor itself has a very fast response time. The maximum tracking speed depends entirely on your microcontroller's processing speed and your control algorithm efficiency.
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity for different floor colors?
A: Each channel has a small trimmer potentiometer. You can adjust these individually while powering the module to set the threshold for distinguishing the line color from the background.
Q: Does this come with sample code for Arduino?
A: Yes, we provide a GitHub repository link in the product documentation that includes basic Arduino and STM32 example codes for reading the 8 digital outputs.
