Great sensor, needs calibration
The build quality is solid and the data output is consistent. Just remember that like any magnetic sensor, it requires proper hard and soft iron calibration in your specific environment to get the best accuracy.

Best value for money
For the price point, you cannot beat the performance of the PNI sensor inside this module. It provides much better yaw stability than the standard MPU9250 magnetometer I used previously.

Good documentation support
The hardware works great. I appreciated the clear pinout diagram and the example code for parsing the serial data. Took off one star because the mounting holes are a bit tight for M2 screws.

Reliable for industrial applications
We are using these in a fleet of autonomous ground vehicles. They handle vibration well and the serial protocol makes integration with our STM32 microcontrollers very easy. Highly recommended.

Excellent precision for UAV projects
I integrated this RM3100 module into my custom drone flight controller. The heading data is incredibly stable compared to cheaper magnetometers. Setup via the serial interface was straightforward using the provided documentation.

Stable heading in dynamic environments
Impressed by how quickly the filter converges after power-up. The noise levels are very low, which is critical for our navigation algorithms. Will definitely order more for our next batch.

A: Yes, the package typically includes a 20cm connecting cable with a JST connector compatible with the module header.
Q: How do I perform the calibration?
A: You need to rotate the sensor in a figure-eight pattern in all three axes while sending the calibration start command. Detailed steps are available in the user manual under the 'Calibration' section.
Q: Is there a Windows software tool to view the data?
A: Yes, WitMotion provides a free PC software tool called 'WT-NAV' or 'Sensor Test' that allows you to view real-time data, plot graphs, and calibrate the sensor.
Q: Can this be used underwater?
A: The module itself is not waterproof. However, if properly potting or enclosed in a waterproof housing that does not contain ferromagnetic materials, it can function underwater.
