Good value but needs calibration
Works well out of the box, but I had to spend some time calibrating it to get precise yaw readings. Once calibrated, the drift is minimal. Great price point for the features offered.

Smooth data output
The filtering on this module is excellent. The angle data is smooth even during rapid movements, which is critical for my flight controller code. No regrets with this purchase.

Great for learning IMU concepts
Bought this for my university thesis. The ability to read raw data and calculated angles via serial makes it perfect for understanding sensor fusion algorithms without needing complex I2C setups.

Reliable industrial grade performance
We used these in a prototype vehicle navigation system. The data consistency is impressive, and the module handles vibration better than expected. The documentation provided by WitMotion is also very helpful.

Perfect for my robotics project
This sensor is incredibly easy to integrate with Arduino. The serial output is stable, and the angle measurements are accurate enough for my self-balancing robot. Highly recommended for hobbyists.

Solid choice for prototypes
We have several of these in our lab. They are robust and the serial interface simplifies wiring compared to I2C when dealing with long cables. Only wish the mounting holes were slightly larger.
Q: Can I change the baud rate to 57600?
A: Absolutely. You can configure the baud rate using our PC software or by sending specific configuration commands via the serial port. Please refer to the user manual for the command list.
Q: Does it require an external magnetometer for heading?
A: The JY61P calculates attitude (pitch and roll) using the accelerometer and gyroscope. For absolute heading (Yaw) without drift over long periods, an external magnetometer is recommended, though the gyro provides short-term yaw data.
Q: Is there a library available for Python?
A: While we provide C# and C++ examples, many users have written open-source Python libraries available on GitHub that parse the WitMotion protocol easily.
Q: What is the update frequency of the sensor?
A: The standard output frequency is 100Hz, but it can be configured up to 200Hz depending on the baud rate and data packet size selected.
Q: Does this module work directly with Raspberry Pi?
A: Yes, it works perfectly. You just need to connect the TX/RX pins to the GPIO UART pins on the Raspberry Pi and ensure the voltage levels match (3.3V logic).
