Good but sensitive to angle
The sensor works well generally, but I noticed if the target surface is at a sharp angle, the reflection can be lost. This is typical for ultrasonic sensors, but worth noting for precision applications.

Perfect for outdoor robotics
This sensor works flawlessly in the rain. The zero blind zone claim is accurate; it detects objects immediately in front of the probe, which was a problem with my old HC-SR04 units.

Easy to interface with Arduino
Documentation was clear, and connecting it to my Arduino Uno was straightforward. The UART output makes parsing distance data very easy without complex timing code.

Reliable and consistent

Survived a harsh winter

Great for tank level monitoring
Used this to monitor water levels in a large outdoor tank. The waterproofing holds up well. Only giving 4 stars because the cable could be a bit longer for my specific setup, but the performance is solid.
Q: Can this sensor measure liquid levels inside a closed metal tank?
A: Yes, as long as the probe is mounted on the top looking down and does not touch the liquid directly, it can measure the distance to the liquid surface effectively.
Q: Can I use multiple of these sensors on one robot without interference?
A: Yes, you can use multiple units. To avoid cross-talk, you should trigger them sequentially rather than simultaneously, or physically separate them and shield them if simultaneous operation is required.
Q: What is the beam angle of this ultrasonic module?
A: The beam angle is approximately 15 degrees. This provides a good balance between detection range and specificity for obstacle avoidance tasks.
Q: Is the output serial data compatible with Raspberry Pi GPIO?
A: Yes, the module uses TTL UART logic which is compatible with Raspberry Pi. However, ensure you use a logic level shifter if your Pi operates at 3.3V to prevent potential damage, although many users report direct connection working at low speeds.
Q: Does the package include mounting brackets?
A: The standard package includes the sensor module with its integrated cable. Mounting brackets or screws are not included, but the probe housing has standard holes for M3 screws.
