Sensitive and adjustable
The potentiometer gives you a lot of control over the trigger point. Just be careful not to turn it too far or it becomes hypersensitive to ambient changes. Overall, a great little module.

Perfect for my solar tracker project
This module works exactly as described. The sensitivity adjustment is very smooth, allowing me to calibrate it perfectly for indoor lighting conditions. Used two of them to build a dual-axis solar tracker and the response is instant.

Great for beginners
I was worried about wiring this up, but the labels on the PCB are clear. It detected the flashlight beam immediately. Great component for learning about light-seeking behaviors in robots.

Reliable industrial prototype component
Used this in a prototype for an automatic window blind system. The 12V operation saves me from needing extra step-down converters. Very consistent performance over a week of continuous testing.

Exceeded expectations
Fast shipping and the product arrived well-packaged. The photodiode is shielded well against interference. I've tested it in both direct sunlight and low lamp light, and it switches reliably every time.

Good value, easy to integrate
Works well with my 12V relay setup. The output is clean and stable. I deducted one star because the mounting holes are a bit tight for M3 screws, but otherwise, it's a solid sensor for the price.
Q: What is the maximum current this module can switch directly?
A: This is a signal detection module, not a power relay. The output is designed to trigger logic circuits or low-current transistors. Do not connect high-load devices like motors directly to the output pins.
Q: Can I use this outdoors in the rain?
A: The PCB is not waterproof or weather-sealed. If you intend to use it outdoors, you must house it in a waterproof enclosure with a transparent window for the sensor.
Q: Can this module work directly with a 5V Arduino logic level?
A: The module operates at 12V. While the sensor itself detects light, the output signal will be 12V. You must use a voltage divider or an optocoupler to interface the output safely with a 5V Arduino pin.
Q: Does this come with connecting wires?
A: No, the module is sold as a standalone PCB component. You will need to solder your own header pins or wires to the designated pads for connection.
Q: Is the sensitivity adjustable in complete darkness?
A: The potentiometer adjusts the threshold relative to the ambient light. In complete darkness, the module will typically output a steady state until light is introduced. You adjust it to determine how much light triggers the change.
