Good value, needs careful alignment
Great little sensor for the price. You need to make sure the emitter and receiver are perfectly aligned for maximum range, but once set up, it is very reliable. Works well with Arduino Uno.

Great for learning sensors
Bought this for a university project. It was easy to interface with our microcontroller. The only reason for 4 stars is that the documentation could be slightly more detailed regarding voltage limits.

Perfect for my conveyor counter project
This sensor module worked exactly as described. The alignment was easy thanks to the clear LEDs, and it counts items on my mini conveyor belt without missing a beat. Very stable output signal.

Fast response time
I used this for a high-speed sorting mechanism. The response time is incredibly fast, handling rapid interruptions of the beam without lag. Highly recommended for automation projects.
Q: How do I adjust the detection sensitivity or distance?
A: This specific slot-type model has a fixed gap. Detection reliability depends on aligning the emitter and receiver precisely. There is no potentiometer for sensitivity adjustment on this board; ensure the object fully breaks the beam.
Q: Can this sensor detect transparent objects like glass or clear plastic?
A: While it can detect some transparent materials, through-beam infrared sensors work best with opaque objects. Transparent objects may allow enough IR light to pass through, preventing detection depending on thickness and material.
Q: Is the output compatible with 3.3V logic levels like ESP32?
A: Yes, the digital output is compatible with both 5V and 3.3V logic systems, making it suitable for use with ESP32, Raspberry Pi, and standard Arduino boards.
Q: Does this come with connecting wires or headers?
A: The module comes with pin headers installed on the PCB, but connecting wires are not included. You will need to solder your own wires or use jumper cables to connect it to your controller.
Q: What is the maximum current draw of this module?
A: The module typically draws around 15mA to 20mA when active. Please refer to the specific datasheet provided in the download section for precise electrical characteristics under different loads.
