Perfect for Arduino Fire Alarms
This sensor works exactly as described. I connected it to my Arduino Uno using the 3-wire setup, and the sensitivity potentiometer made it easy to calibrate for my specific room lighting conditions. Great value for hobby projects.

Versatile 3-wire and 4-wire options
I appreciate that this module supports both 3-wire and 4-wire configurations. It gave me the flexibility to integrate it into an existing system without changing my power supply setup. The LM393 comparator is stable.

Works but range is limited
The sensor detects flame accurately but only within a short range (about 1 meter for a small candle). For larger area monitoring, you would need multiple units. It serves its purpose for close-range detection tasks.

Good sensitivity, needs calibration
The module is very sensitive to flame sources, which is good. However, you must spend time adjusting the potentiometer to avoid false positives from bright sunlight or incandescent bulbs. Once tuned, it works reliably.

Excellent for student projects
Bought ten of these for our high school robotics club. They are robust, easy to wire, and the documentation provided by the seller was clear. Students successfully integrated them into autonomous fire-fighting robots.

Solid build quality
The PCB looks clean with good soldering points. The infrared receiver tube is well-protected. My only minor complaint is that the mounting holes are slightly tight for standard M3 screws, but nothing a drill can't fix.
Q: What is the difference between the 3-wire and 4-wire connection?
A: The 3-wire mode typically uses VCC, GND, and DO (Digital Output). The 4-wire mode adds an AO (Analog Output) pin, allowing you to read varying voltage levels corresponding to flame intensity rather than just a binary on/off signal.
Q: Will this work outdoors in direct sunlight?
A: Direct sunlight contains infrared radiation that may trigger the sensor. If using outdoors, you must carefully adjust the sensitivity potentiometer to ignore ambient light or house the sensor in a shielded enclosure that only allows light from the target area.
Q: Is this module safe to use for triggering a real home fire suppression system?
A: No, this product is intended for educational, hobbyist, and prototyping purposes only. It is not certified for life-safety applications or industrial fire suppression systems. Please use professionally certified equipment for actual safety critical installations.
