Easy to use for beginners
I am new to electronics and this was very easy to connect to my breadboard. The pins are clearly labeled. It lit up the LED immediately when I made a loud noise. Highly recommended for learning.

Excellent sensitivity range
The range of adjustment is impressive. You can make it detect a whisper or require a shout. The board is compact and fits easily into small enclosures. Fast shipping too.

Reliable sound detection
Used four of these on a robot project to detect direction of sound. They all performed consistently. The LM393 comparator is a standard and reliable choice for this application.

Works well with ESP8266
Integrated this with an ESP8266 to trigger lights when noise levels exceed a certain point. It works great, though you need to write some code to debounce the signal if the environment is noisy.

Perfect for my Arduino clap switch
This module works exactly as described. The sensitivity adjustment via the potentiometer is very smooth, allowing me to tune it perfectly to ignore background noise but react to claps. Great value for the price.

Good sensor, needs calibration
The build quality is solid. It took a few minutes to get the threshold right using the blue pot, but once set, it has been reliable for our student projects. Just remember it outputs digital signals only.
Q: Does this module output analog voltage levels corresponding to sound intensity?
A: No, this specific module provides a digital switching output (High/Low) based on the threshold you set. For analog readings, you would need a different version of the microphone sensor.
Q: Does this come with header pins soldered?
A: Yes, the 3-pin header strip is pre-soldered to the board, making it ready to plug directly into a breadboard or connect with jumper wires immediately upon arrival.
Q: Can I power this directly from a 9V battery?
A: No, the operating voltage is 3.3V to 5V. Connecting it directly to 9V may damage the chip. Please use a regulator or a 5V power source like an Arduino board.
Q: What is the effective distance for sound detection?
A: The effective distance depends on the loudness of the sound and your sensitivity setting. Typically, it can detect normal speech or clapping within 1 to 3 meters in a quiet room.
Q: Is the microphone element replaceable if it breaks?
