Works well but fragile pins

The sensor itself is great, but the header pins felt a bit loose when I soldered them. Make sure to reinforce the connections if you plan on moving the wire frequently. Otherwise, the data output is clean.

Good value but needs calibration

The build quality is solid and it feels durable. You do need to spend some time calibrating the analog readings in your code to get accurate angle measurements, but once set up, it performs very well.

Great sensitivity

Very sensitive to small changes in angle. I had to adjust my voltage divider circuit slightly to prevent saturation at extreme bends, but overall it's a fantastic component for the price point.

Essential for our VR controller

We integrated five of these into our VR hand tracking prototype. The forward and reverse bending detection is smooth, allowing us to map finger curls accurately without jitter. Excellent product.

Superior to standard flex sensors

I have tested many bending sensors for my university lab. This strain gauge module offers much better repeatability and less hysteresis than the standard conductive ink flex sensors. Great for research applications.

Perfect for robotic finger projects

This sensor works exactly as described. I used it to build a prototype for a smart glove, and the linearity of the resistance change is impressive compared to cheaper flex sensors. Highly recommended for precision tasks.

Q: Does the resistance change linearly with the angle?

A: The response is highly linear across the majority of the bending range, though slight non-linearity may occur at extreme angles (-90° or +90°). Calibration curves in software can easily correct this.

Q: Can this sensor detect both bending and straightening?

A: Yes, this module is designed to measure both forward and reverse bending angles, providing a continuous analog output relative to the neutral position.

Q: Is this compatible with 3.3V microcontrollers like ESP32?

A: Absolutely. The module operates comfortably within the 3.3V to 5V range, making it fully compatible with ESP32, Arduino Nano 33 IoT, and similar boards.

Q: How do I attach this to a fabric glove?

A: The substrate is flexible polyimide. We recommend sewing fabric loops around the non-active ends of the sensor or using flexible textile adhesive. Avoid gluing the active sensing area directly to maintain flexibility.

Q: What is the maximum current draw for this module?

A: The sensor is passive resistive; current draw depends entirely on the pull-up or pull-down resistor you use in your voltage divider circuit, typically ranging from 1mA to 5mA.
