Easy to interface with ESP32

I was worried about voltage compatibility with my 3.3V ESP32, but it works flawlessly. The documentation online is plentiful, and the pinout is standard. The sensitivity potentiometer allows me to fine-tune exactly when my pump turns on.

Great for student projects

Bought a bulk pack for our high school robotics club. Students find them easy to wire up to Raspberry Pis and Arduinos. They are durable enough to handle being plugged and unplugged repeatedly by students. One unit arrived with a bent pin, but it was easily fixed.

Good value, but probes need care

Great little module for the price. It reads moisture accurately enough for hobby projects. Just remember that the exposed metal probes can corrode over time if left in wet soil constantly. I pull mine out to clean them every few weeks to extend their life.

Reliable detection for indoor pots

Using these in three different potted plants indoors. They are small enough to hide near the base of the stems without being an eyesore. The response time is quick; within seconds of adding water, the reading changes from dry to wet.

Perfect for my Arduino greenhouse project

This sensor works exactly as described. The analog output gives a smooth reading of moisture levels, and the digital threshold is easy to adjust with the small screw on the board. I've integrated it into my automatic watering system and it triggers reliably when the soil gets dry.

Works well but instructions could be better

The hardware itself is solid and responsive. However, as a beginner, I found it slightly confusing to distinguish between the DO and AO pins initially. Once I watched a tutorial video, it made sense. Would recommend having some basic electronics knowledge before buying.

Q: How long do the probes last before corroding?

A: The lifespan depends on soil acidity and how long the probes remain energized in wet soil. For best results, we recommend powering the sensor only during reading intervals rather than leaving it continuously on. With proper care, they can last several months to a year.

Q: Can this sensor be used directly with a 12V power supply?

A: No, the sensor module itself operates on 3.3V to 5V DC. While the product title mentions 12V, that typically refers to the relay module or pump system it might control, not the sensor input. Please power the sensor with 5V or less to avoid damage.

Q: Is this sensor waterproof?

A: The electronic components on the PCB are not waterproof and should be kept above the soil line. Only the metal probe tips are designed to be inserted into the soil. Ensure no water splashes onto the chip or solder points.

Q: What is the difference between the DO and AO pins?

A: AO (Analog Output) provides a variable voltage representing the exact moisture level, which you read with an analog pin. DO (Digital Output) sends a simple HIGH/LOW signal based on a threshold you set with the onboard potentiometer, useful for simple on/off triggering.

Q: Does this come with cables to connect to Arduino?
