Solid build quality
The PCB feels sturdy and the coating looks professional. It has been in my tomato planter for two months now with no signs of degradation. Works as advertised.

Excellent sensitivity range
I was worried it might be too binary, but adjusting the sensitivity allows for great control over when the alert triggers. Great component for hobbyists and pros alike.

Reliable for indoor pots
Using these for my indoor herb garden automation. They are sensitive enough to detect moisture changes quickly. The gold plating really does prevent the rust issues I had with cheaper sensors.

Much better than resistive sensors
Finally switched from the old resistive probes to this capacitive module. The difference in longevity is night and day. No more corrosion after a few weeks in the soil. Works perfectly with my ESP32 project.

Great value, easy to calibrate
The potentiometer makes it very easy to set the threshold for when the relay triggers. I use it to control a small water pump. Only giving 4 stars because the documentation could be slightly clearer on wiring diagrams.
Q: What is the expected lifespan compared to resistive sensors?
A: Because this uses capacitive detection rather than exposed metal electrodes that pass current through the soil, it avoids electrolysis and corrosion. Lifespan is significantly longer, often lasting years depending on soil acidity.
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity threshold?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the back of the module. Use a small screwdriver to turn it clockwise to increase sensitivity or counter-clockwise to decrease it while monitoring the status LED.
Q: Does this module come with jumper wires?
A: The package typically includes the sensor module only. Jumper wires are sold separately, but standard female-to-female or female-to-male wires will fit the pin headers perfectly.
Q: Is this compatible with 5V Arduino boards?
A: Yes, this module operates comfortably within the 3.3V to 5V DC range, making it fully compatible with standard 5V Arduino boards like the Uno and Mega.
Q: Can this sensor be submerged completely in water?
A: While the sensor is coated for corrosion resistance, it is designed for insertion into soil, not full submersion in water for extended periods. Please ensure the electronic components on the top of the PCB remain dry.
