Perfect upgrade from SHT30

Switched my weather station project from SHT30 to this SHT40 module. The accuracy is noticeably better, especially in high humidity conditions. The I2C communication is stable and the library support for Arduino is excellent.

Solid performance

Works great with my ESP32 setup. The power consumption is very low, which is critical for my battery-operated nodes. Documentation could be slightly clearer on the heater usage, but overall a great product.

Great sensor, small footprint

The module is tiny which makes it perfect for compact wearable projects. Only giving 4 stars because the breakout board pins are a bit close together for standard breadboards without an adapter, but the performance is top-notch.

Reliable for agricultural monitoring

Q: What is the difference between this and the SHT30?

A: The SHT40 offers improved accuracy, better long-term stability, and higher resistance to contamination and condensation compared to the SHT30. It is also more power-efficient, making it ideal for battery-powered applications.

Q: Can I use this outdoors directly in the rain?

A: The sensor chip itself has good condensation resistance, but the breakout board is not waterproof. For outdoor use in rain, you must house the module in a breathable waterproof enclosure (like a Stevenson screen) to protect the electronics while allowing air flow.

Q: Is this module compatible with 5V Arduino boards?

A: Yes, the module operates between 1.08V and 3.6V. However, since most 5V Arduinos have 5V logic levels, you should use a logic level converter or ensure your specific board supports 3.3V I2C lines to avoid damaging the sensor.

Q: What is the I2C address for this sensor?

A: The default I2C address for the SHT40 is typically 0x44. Some variants allow for a secondary address of 0x45 depending on the ADDR pin configuration. Please check the schematic on our documentation page for your specific batch.

Q: Does this come with example code for Raspberry Pi?
