Reliable for Arduino projects
Used this for a home automation project with an Arduino. The signal output is clean and consistent. Much better reliability than the generic unbranded sensors I tried previously.

Exact match for D203S modules
If you have a D203S module that has failed, this is the exact component you need. No modification required. Detection angle is wide and covers my hallway perfectly.

Perfect replacement for my old security light
My outdoor motion sensor light stopped working, and I suspected the PIR element. This RP500B fit perfectly as a direct replacement for the RE200B. Soldering was straightforward, and the detection range is excellent.

Works well, sensitive adjustment needed
The sensor works great once calibrated. It was a bit too sensitive out of the box, triggering on small pets, but after adjusting the potentiometer on the module, it only detects humans now. Good value.

Good sensor, tricky pins
The sensor itself performs well, but the pins were slightly bent upon arrival. I had to carefully straighten them before soldering. Functionality is fine now, just be careful during unpacking.
Q: What voltage does the sensor element itself operate at?
A: The sensor element is passive; however, the module it is soldered into typically operates between 4.5V and 20V DC. Please refer to your specific circuit board requirements for voltage limits.
Q: Can this detect motion through glass windows?
A: No, pyroelectric infrared sensors cannot detect thermal radiation through standard glass windows as glass blocks IR wavelengths. The sensor requires a direct line of sight to the heat source.
Q: Is this sensor compatible with the HC-SR501 module?
A: Yes, the RP500B is generally compatible with the HC-SR501 module as it uses a standard TO-5 package and pinout similar to the RE200B originally found in those modules.
Q: Does this come with a Fresnel lens included?
A: No, this listing is for the pyroelectric infrared sensor element only. The white plastic Fresnel lens is not included and must be sourced from your existing module or purchased separately.
Q: What is the maximum detection distance for this sensor?
A: The detection distance depends on the lens used in your specific module, but typically with a standard Fresnel lens, this sensor can detect human movement up to 7 meters away.
