Excellent component for the price
Very impressed with the large surface area compared to smaller sensors I've used before. It reduces the chance of missing a rain event due to wind direction. Highly recommended for anyone building weather stations.

Reliable water detection
I used this to detect overflow in a water tank. It has been running outdoors under a protective mesh for two weeks without false alarms. The build quality of the PCB looks solid and the gold plating on the traces seems durable.

Perfect for my smart garden project
This sensor works exactly as described. The large detection area makes it very responsive to even light drizzle. I connected it to an Arduino and the relay triggered instantly when water was applied. Great value for the price.

Great for learning electronics
Bought this for a university project on home automation. The documentation online is plentiful, and the module is very straightforward to interface with microcontrollers. The LED indicators help a lot during debugging.

Works well for automatic wipers
Integrated this into a prototype for automatic windshield wipers. The response time is fast enough for safety applications. Just ensure you seal the connections if using it in a high-humidity environment long-term.

Good sensitivity, easy to calibrate
The potentiometer allows for fine-tuning the threshold, which is essential depending on how much rain you want to trigger the alarm. The only minor issue is that the screw terminals are a bit small for thick wires, but standard jumper wires fit perfectly.
Q: Does this come with the connecting wires?
A: The package typically includes the module only. You will need to source your own Dupont jumper wires or solder wires to the screw terminals depending on your setup. Some seller bundles may include wires, so please check the specific listing options.
Q: Can this module directly control a 12V water pump?
A: The module itself operates at 5V, but the onboard relay can switch higher voltages. Please check the specific relay rating printed on the component (usually 10A at 250VAC or 30VDC). As long as your 12V pump draws less than the relay's maximum current, it will work safely.
Q: What is the difference between the DO and AO pins?
A: DO (Digital Output) provides a simple HIGH/LOW signal when the water threshold is crossed, which is adjustable via the potentiometer. AO (Analog Output) provides a voltage proportional to the conductivity of the water, allowing you to measure intensity or water level depth in code.
Q: Is the sensor pad resistant to corrosion over time?
A: The exposed traces are gold-plated to resist oxidation and corrosion. However, for permanent outdoor installation, we recommend applying a conformal coating to the non-sensing parts of the PCB and ensuring the sensor pad is cleaned periodically to remove debris.
Q: Can I use this with a Raspberry Pi?
A: Yes, you can use it with a Raspberry Pi. Connect the VCC to 5V (or 3.3V if the module supports it, though 5V is safer for the relay), GND to GND, and the DO pin to a GPIO input. Remember to use a pull-up or down resistor configuration in your code if necessary, though the module usually handles the logic levels well.
