Perfect for my automatic night light project
This sensor module works exactly as described. The potentiometer makes it very easy to calibrate the sensitivity threshold. I connected it to an Arduino Uno and had it reading light levels within minutes. Great value for the price.

Reliable and responsive

Good quality, clear instructions needed
The hardware quality is solid and the soldering points are clean. However, beginners might struggle slightly without a pinout diagram included in the package. Once I found a guide online, it worked flawlessly for my garden lighting system.

Great for greenhouse monitoring
Using this to monitor sunlight exposure in my smart greenhouse setup. It handles the humidity well inside the protective case I built. The voltage range is flexible enough to run off my 3.3V ESP8266 board directly.

Easy to use for beginners
As someone new to electronics, I was worried this would be too complex. It turned out to be very straightforward. The digital output makes logic simple: high or low based on light. The analog output is a nice bonus for more granular data.

Solid component, small form factor
The size is compact which fits well into my enclosure. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the mounting holes are a bit tight for standard M3 screws, but they work if you are careful. Functionality is top-notch.
Q: Does this come with jumper wires for connection?
A: No, the package includes only the sensor module. Jumper wires are sold separately, but standard female-to-female Dupont wires work perfectly.
Q: What is the difference between the DO and AO pins?
A: DO (Digital Output) provides a HIGH or LOW signal based on your threshold setting, while AO (Analog Output) provides a variable voltage representing the exact light intensity detected.
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity of the light detection?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the board. Turn it clockwise or counter-clockwise while exposing the sensor to your target light level until the indicator LED triggers as desired.
Q: Can this module be powered directly by a 3.3V microcontroller?
A: Yes, the operating voltage range is DC 3.3V to 5V, so it is fully compatible with 3.3V systems like the ESP32 or ESP8266.
Q: Is the LM393 chip replaceable if it gets damaged?
A: Yes, the LM393 is a standard comparator IC in an SOP-8 package and can be replaced with proper soldering skills if necessary.
