Perfect for DIY Home Automation
This sensor works flawlessly with my Arduino project. The gesture recognition is surprisingly accurate even in varying light conditions. Setup was easy using the provided library.

Reliable for student projects
We bought ten of these for our university lab. They are robust and handle frequent handling by students well. The I2C interface makes wiring very simple.

Best gesture sensor in this range
Fast response time and low power consumption. I am using it to control my media center without a remote, and it feels very futuristic and responsive.

Great value, minor learning curve
The hardware quality is excellent for the price. It took me a little while to calibrate the sensitivity correctly, but once done, it recognizes all 9 gestures reliably.

Exceeded expectations
I was worried about false positives, but the algorithm inside the PAJ7620U2 is quite smart. It ignores random hand movements and only triggers on specific gestures.

Solid performance
Integration with ESP32 was smooth. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the documentation could be slightly more detailed regarding register maps.
Q: Is a library available for Raspberry Pi?
A: Yes, there are several open-source Python libraries available for Raspberry Pi that support the PAJ7620U2 via the I2C bus. You can find examples on GitHub.
Q: What is the maximum distance for reliable detection?
A: For best results, gestures should be performed within 5cm to 15cm of the sensor. Detection beyond 15cm may become inconsistent depending on ambient light and hand size.
Q: Does it consume a lot of power in standby mode?
A: No, the sensor features a low-power sleep mode. When no motion is detected for a set period, it enters sleep mode automatically to conserve energy.
Q: Does this module work directly with 5V logic levels?
A: Yes, the module supports an operating voltage range of 3.3V to 5V, making it compatible with both 3.3V and 5V microcontrollers without level shifters.
Q: Can I customize the gestures or am I stuck with the 9 built-in ones?
A: The PAJ7620U2 comes with 9 predefined gestures optimized for accuracy. While you cannot retrain the internal AI to recognize completely new shapes, you can map these existing gestures to any function in your code.
