Great value, minor learning curve
The hardware quality is excellent for the price. It took me a little while to calibrate the sensitivity correctly, but once done, it recognizes all 9 gestures reliably.

Exceeded expectations
I was worried about false positives, but the algorithm inside the PAJ7620U2 is quite smart. It ignores random hand movements and only triggers on specific gestures.

Solid performance
Integration with ESP32 was smooth. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the documentation could be slightly more detailed regarding register maps.

Q: What is the maximum distance for reliable detection?
A: For best results, gestures should be performed within 5cm to 15cm of the sensor. Detection beyond 15cm may become inconsistent depending on ambient light and hand size.
