Works well for aquariums
Using this to monitor water levels in my fish tank sump. It handles the humidity well. Just make sure the back of the sensor is clean and dry when mounting to ensure good contact with the tank wall.

Good sensitivity, needs calibration
The module is well-made and the non-contact feature is a huge plus. I had to adjust the potentiometer slightly to get the perfect trigger point for my specific container thickness, but once set, it stays consistent.

Excellent value for money
Bought five of these for a school robotics kit. They are robust and easy to interface with microcontrollers like ESP32 and Raspberry Pi. No issues with false triggers so far.

Perfect for my Arduino project
This sensor works exactly as described. I attached it to the outside of a plastic water bottle, and it detects the level instantly without any wires touching the liquid. Very reliable for my automated plant watering system.

Safe and effective
I was worried about corrosion with traditional probes, but this solves that problem completely. It works great through glass and thin plastic. The LEDs are bright enough to see status at a glance.

Simple integration
Plug and play basically. The digital output makes coding very simple. I appreciate that it doesn't require drilling holes in my containers. Highly recommended for prototyping.
Q: Can this sensor detect liquid levels through thick glass containers?
A: It works best with containers up to 5mm thick. For thicker glass, you may need to increase the sensitivity using the onboard potentiometer, but performance can vary depending on the material density.
Q: Does it work with oily liquids or just water?
A: Yes, it can detect various conductive and non-conductive liquids including oil, provided the dielectric constant of the liquid is sufficient to trigger the capacitive change. Testing with your specific liquid is advised.
Q: Is this module waterproof itself?
A: The sensing area is conformal coated and resistant to splashes, but the electronic components on the back are not fully waterproof. We recommend keeping the circuit side dry or enclosing it in a protective case.
Q: What is the current consumption of this sensor?
A: The module typically consumes around 10mA when active. The detection LED draws a small portion of this, so it is suitable for battery-powered projects with sleep modes.
Q: Can I connect multiple sensors to one microcontroller?
A: Absolutely. Since each module provides a standard digital output, you can connect as many as you have GPIO pins available on your microcontroller to monitor multiple tanks or levels simultaneously.
