Reliable for multiple gas types
Tested this against controlled alcohol vapor and LPG leaks. The response time is quick enough for alarm systems. The DO pin triggers reliably when gas concentration exceeds the set limit. Highly recommended for integration projects.

Excellent sensitivity
Very sensitive to smoke from incense sticks during testing. The voltage drop on the analog pin is distinct and easy to read with an ADC. Documentation could be better, but there are plenty of tutorials online for Arduino users.

Good sensor, requires patience
The sensor works well once you let it burn in for a day or two as instructed. Initially, the readings were all over the place, but they stabilized nicely. Just make sure you have a 5V power supply capable of delivering enough current for the heater.

Works but gets hot
The module functions as described, but the heating element gets quite hot to the touch. Make sure to mount it in a case with ventilation holes. Also, ensure your microcontroller ground is common with the sensor ground to avoid noise.

Perfect for DIY Safety Projects
I used the MQ-2 module for a home smoke detection prototype. The analog output is stable after the initial preheat period, and the digital threshold is easy to adjust with the onboard potentiometer. Great value for hobbyists.

Solid build quality
The PCB looks clean and the soldering points are clear. I appreciate the separate pins for AO and DO. It took about 30 hours to fully stabilize, so plan your project timeline accordingly. Overall a solid purchase for the price.

A: The mounting holes are 3.0mm in diameter, spaced to fit many standard project boxes. You can use M3 screws or standoffs to secure the module inside your custom enclosure securely.
Q: How long does the sensor need to warm up before giving accurate readings?
A: For initial use, the sensor requires a burn-in period of 24 to 48 hours to stabilize the internal sensing element. After this initial period, the warm-up time for subsequent uses is typically around 1 to 3 minutes.
Q: Can this detect natural gas leaks specifically?
A: Yes, the MQ-2 variant included in this selection is sensitive to combustible gases including methane, which is the primary component of natural gas. However, please note this is for prototyping and educational purposes, not certified life-safety equipment.
Q: What is the difference between the AO and DO pins?
A: AO (Analog Output) provides a continuous voltage signal proportional to the gas concentration, allowing you to measure exact levels via an ADC. DO (Digital Output) goes HIGH or LOW only when the gas concentration exceeds the threshold set by the onboard potentiometer.
Q: Does this module work directly with 3.3V logic microcontrollers?
