Works well but sensitive to noise
The sensor functions as advertised, but I had to add extra filtering to my power supply to reduce noise in the readings. Once sorted, the output is clean. Just be mindful of your circuit design.

Excellent resolution for the price point
This sensor module works flawlessly with my Raspberry Pi project. The 32x24 resolution provides enough detail for basic thermal mapping without breaking the bank. Integration was straightforward using the provided libraries.

Best entry-level thermal sensor
Compared to other sensors in this category, the MLX90642 offers superior image clarity. It handles ambient temperature changes very well. Highly recommended for anyone starting with thermal imaging.

Good performance, needs calibration
The sensor is responsive and fast. I did notice it needed a brief warm-up period to stabilize readings, but once calibrated, the temperature data is quite consistent. Great for hobbyist thermal cameras.

Perfect for obstacle detection
We integrated this into our autonomous robot for heat signature detection. The refresh rate is impressive, allowing for real-time processing. The I2C interface makes it easy to connect to our microcontroller.

Solid build quality
The TO-39 package feels robust. It survived a few accidental drops during prototyping. The only downside is that the documentation could be slightly more detailed for beginners, but community forums helped.

A: The effective distance depends on the size of the object. For a human-sized object, it can detect heat signatures up to several meters away, but accuracy decreases as the object fills fewer pixels in the 32x24 matrix.
