Good value, requires calibration
The sensor works well out of the box, but I recommend running a fresh air calibration cycle before deployment for accurate readings. The build quality is solid for the price point. Response time is as advertised.

Sensitive and fast
Very impressed with the sensitivity. I tested it with a controlled release of propane, and the alarm triggered via my microcontroller almost instantly. Ensure you let it warm up fully before relying on the data.

Works but gets warm
The sensor functions correctly and detects gas accurately. However, the heating element inside gets quite hot to the touch, which is normal for this type of semiconductor sensor, but something to keep in mind for enclosure design.

Perfect for my home safety project
I integrated this module into a custom Raspberry Pi home monitoring system. The serial output is clean and easy to parse. It detected a small gas leak from a loose fitting during testing immediately. Highly recommended for DIY enthusiasts.

Reliable detection
Using this to monitor biogas production in my small scale digester. It provides consistent readings and hasn't drifted much over the last two months. The voltage requirements are standard which makes wiring easy.

Great for university projects

A: No, this specific module is optimized for combustible gases like Methane, Propane, and Ethane. For Carbon Monoxide detection, please look at our dedicated CO sensor models.
Q: Does this come with an enclosure or is it just the bare board?
A: This listing is for the bare module board only. It does not include an enclosure. You will need to design or purchase a separate case that allows for airflow to the sensor head.
Q: Is a library available for Arduino?
A: Yes, there are several open-source libraries available on GitHub compatible with this generic CH4 sensor module. We provide a sample code snippet in the product manual to get you started quickly.
Q: How often does the sensor need to be replaced?
A: Under normal operating conditions, the sensor life is typically 2 to 3 years. Lifespan may vary depending on exposure to high concentrations of gas or silicone vapors which can poison the sensor.
Q: What is the communication protocol used for the output?
A: The module uses a standard UART TTL serial interface. You can read the concentration data by connecting the TX pin to your microcontroller's RX pin and parsing the serial stream at 9600 baud.
